June 6, 2024

On Thursday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m., over 1,300 grade 4 to 8 Francophone students from some 20 Greater Sudbury, Sudbury East, Espanola, Spanish and Blind River schools will gather at Bell Park’s Grace Hartman Amphitheatre for a St-Jean performance featuring the improvisation group Improtéine. The show is presented jointly by Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord and the St-Jean committee in Sudbury.

This quality 90-minute performance is part of the numerous St-Jean activities to take place in Greater Sudbury during the month of June. With the presentation of this concert, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord and the St-Jean committee wish to expose students from French-language Catholic and public schools to a Francophone cultural experience and to reinforce their links with Francophone community partners.

For nearly 20 years, the members of Improtéine have been touring Canada with their interactive theatrical, musical and humorous improvisation shows. This improvisation group has given over 1,000 performances to more than 350,000 spectators. A hundred per cent improvised, their shows come to life thanks to a game master who interacts with the crowd to guide the improvisers and a musician towards hilarious stories that are completely unique and spontaneous. Sketches, songs, ridiculous situations - everything is invented on the spot, in front of the audience's eyes.

The first part of the show will feature multitalented artist, Chloé Thériault, as well as the cultural identity building teams from Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon and Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord. Chloé Thériault is a Francophone artist from Sudbury. Her work focuses primarily on humor, theater and writing.
