It was with a great feeling of pride that the Aigles from École secondaire catholique l'Horizon (Val Caron) won the gold medal in the A Division of the Franco-Ontarian Girls Hockey Tournament (Tournoi franco-ontarien de hockey féminin). Held in Timmins from November 28 to 30, the tournament brought together hockey teams from several French-language secondary schools from across the province.

After losing their first game to the Requins of ÉSC Champlain (Chelmsford) by a score of 5-3, the Aigles racked up a string of victories in the preliminary round, defeating ÉSC Casselman (Casselman) by a score of 6-0 and ÉSC Cité des Jeunes (Kapuskasing) by a score of 5-0. In the semi-final game, ÉSC l'Horizon got the better of ÉSC Casselman by a score of 6-0. In the championship game, ÉSC l'Horizon, which faced ÉSC Champlain for a second time, played with determination and won the A Division Championship with a 4-1 victory.

"I am very proud of the performance by all Horizon players. After losing our first game, the players rose to the challenge and played as a team and with a great deal of determination. This exceptional perseverance, combined with a high level of play, enabled us to win the A Division banner at the Franco-Ontarian Hockey Tournament. We hope to repeat this success next year and that it will mark a new era of success for the Aigles," stated Mr. Chad Dubreuil, coach and associate teacher at ÉSC l'Horizon.

ÉSC l'Horizon's championship team includes the following members: Lexi Briscoe, Mackenzie Cameron, Gracey Paul, Maya Flores, Kalia Pharand, Olivia Pitre, Madison Bodson, Meghan Paquette, Naomi Gobeil, Suri Darwish, Kenya Gravelle, Gabrielle Roy, Haven Bellerose, Désirée Charbonneau, Emily Joly, Chad Dubreuil (coach) and Ozzy Flores (assistant coach).
