The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon was proud to launch a new Welcome Guide to Support Newcomers and their Families (Guide d'accueil des familles nouvellement arrivées) as part of the National Francophone Immigration Week. The welcome guide, which is supported by the CSC Nouvelon's Parent Participation Committee, was produced in partnership with Parents partenaires en éducation. The guide is designed to help families settle in Northern Ontario as well as register and support their children in their learning in French-language schools.
The guide seeks to help families discover community resources for living in French in Ontario and to facilitate their integration in their community. This tool also provides an overview of community resources and services, Francophone cultural activities as well as practical information on public, government and community services. It also includes advice on registration process and supporting their child in a French-language Catholic school. The guide is available online by visiting: www.nouvelon.ca/guide-daccueil .
"We take great pride in welcoming an ever-growing number of students from some 40 countries from around the world," explained Mr. Paul Henry, Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer at CSC Nouvelon. "The production of this guide is part of CSC Nouvelon's efforts to welcome, integrate and support students from immigrant backgrounds who attend our elementary and secondary schools. Thanks to the support of our staff, settlement workers from Centre de santé communautaire du Grand Sudbury and various community partners, the board aspires to make its schools more welcoming and offer a warm welcome to the French-language and Francophile immigrants it receives.”
The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon offers a French-language Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSC Nouvelon provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 5,900 students enrolled in 27 elementary, 1 virtual school and 10 secondary schools.
