École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron) will be welcoming over 375 students from some 30 Ontario French-language secondary schools from March 3 to 6, 2018, as host of the Quand ça nous chante music festival. Music groups from Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario’s ÉSC l’Horizon (Val Caron), ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord (Blind-River) and Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury) schools will be amongst the 30 student music groups participating in the festival. This event allows students to develop their passion for music and share their talents, while also learning from professional musicians. The bulk of the festival’s activities will be taking place at the Collège Boréal campus.
The Quand ça nous chante festival, run by the Association des professionnels de la chanson et de la musique (APCM), enables students to take part in workshops on various aspects of music creation and recording. Each school group will have an opportunity to perform its music on stage. Finally, students will get to enjoy a number of evening concerts. The festival’s sponsor, Stef Paquette, will kick things off with a performance on March 3, while Flo Franco and Marie-Clo are set to deliver the second concert on March 4, and Marie-Claire and McLean will wrap things up on March 5 with a closing show.
Festival sponsor Stef Paquette, students from the three CSCNO participating schools and ÉSC l’Horizon principal Ms. Mélanie Leblanc, would be pleased to answer questions from media representatives prior to the start of the festival. A detailed event schedule will be sent out to media representatives prior to the festival.
The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
