It is with great pride that six Ontario French language Catholic school boards, including the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO), will be signing a partnership agreement with two French Diocesan education institutions at CSCNO’s head office (201 Jogues St., Sudbury) this Thursday, April 12, at 4 p.m. Members of the media are invited to attend the signing of this important partnership that seeks to develop a set of educational activities and facilitate the sharing of experience, knowledge, teaching and learning methods, and pedagogical materials.

Delegates from several Catholic educational institutions from France are in Sudbury this week to share strategies and ideas with staff from the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO). This visit is taking place in the context of a partnership agreement between six French language Catholic school boards in Ontario and the Direction diocésaine de l’Enseignement catholique du Puy et de St Flour as well as the Direction diocésaine de l’Enseignement catholique de Clermont et de Moulins, two French Diocesan educational institutions, that will be signed on Thursday, April 12, at 4 p.m. at CSCNO’s head office (20 Jogues St., Sudbury).

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) and the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) trustees have approved the construction of a joint facility that will enhance French and English Catholic education in Espanola.

Every year, the Sudbury branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum provides funding for educational initiatives in the areas of technology and engineering. This year, the Institute granted $4,000 to École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford). The funds will be used for three school technology initiatives.

Vanessa Morris, a grade 10 student at École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford), was selected as one of 60 students to be the voice of Ontario’s 1.9 million students on the Ontario Ministry of Education Minister’s Student Advisory Council for 2018-2019. Council members share their ideas and reflections with the Minister of Education on ways to further enhance Ontario’s public education system. Council members also offer advice, particularly as it pertains to the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen student commitment.
