On Thursday, April 26, Collège Notre-Dame’s Le Bistro singing café will present its new repertoire to the public. Doors open at 6:30 pm at the school located at 100 Lévis Street in Sudbury. Snacks will be available for purchase during the intermission. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the Collège Notre-Dame main office or at the door prior to show time. All profits will go towards the school’s We Committee as well as the Health campaign in India.

Le Bistro will present hits by Francophone artists, a few English hits translated into French as well as four original songs composed by the students. The production, guided by Ms. Renée Dupuis, will please music enthusiasts of all ages. Launched in 2006, Le Bistro finds its musical inspiration in blues, rock, country, folk music, and, of course, in French song. Additionally, Collège Notre-Dame’s art students will produce “Live Art” during the show, using what they hear and see as inspiration. The works of art will be sold during the silent auction that will be taking place that evening.

Some 120 young chess masters will meet in Wawa on Thursday, April 19, for the fifth Franco-Nord-Ouest Chess Tournament. The competition, hosted by Wawa’s École Saint-Joseph, will attract francophone students from the following Northwestern Ontario French language Catholic and Public schools: École Saint-Joseph (Wawa), École St-Joseph (Dubreuilville), École Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault Ste. Marie), École Saint Nom de Jésus (Hornepayne), École Sacré-Cœur (Chapleau), École l’Escalade (Wawa), École secondaire l’Orée des Bois (Dubreuilville) and École secondaire Cité-Supérieure (Marathon).

Mrs. Corinne Langevin was presented the Sudbury Regional Science Fair’s Ambassador for Science Award during its April 8, 2018 awards ceremony. Although Mrs. Langevin currently teaches at École secondaire du Sacré-Coeur (Sudbury), she was recognized for her commitment to teaching science at École St-Thomas (Warren) from 2014 to 2017. The Ambassador for Science Award recognizes a teacher for his or her help and encouragement to students throughout the preparation of their science fair projects.

Ms. France Gélinas, Nickel Belt MPP, made her way to ESC Champlain on Friday, April 13, to present this coveted Award to Vanessa.

Despite its modest size, St-Étienne remains a cornerstone of community life and an integral part of the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO). The school has long made its mark through community involvement and charitable work. The school offers quality education to the families of Dowling, Levack, Onaping Falls and Cartier.

Two teams from École Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault Ste. Marie) will be heading to Louisville, Kentucky for the April 29–May 1 VEX IQ Challenge World Championship based on their outstanding performance at the provincial VEX IQ Challenge, which was held in Mississauga on March 3 and 4. The 400 best elementary school teams from 42 countries across the world will compete in the World Championship. The school is inviting members of the media to come see the robots in action on Monday, April 16, at 9:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m in the lobby of École Notre-Dame-du-Sault (600 North St., Sault Ste. Marie).
