Some 50 grade 7 and 8 students from various Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) elementary schools will gather in the École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur (261, av. Notre-Dame, Sudbury) on Wednesday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., to take part in the CSCNO Science Fair. Members of the media are invited to meet the young scientists.

Under the guidance of their teacher, these CSCNO students were able to work on the scientific enquiry process and focus on various areas of science. The projects will be divided in the following categories: life science, physical science and engineering. In groups of two, students will present their research project to a panel of judges in the morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Afterwards, they will share their knowledge and their scientific findings with family and friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The top science fair projects will move on to the Sudbury Regional Science Fair being held at Laurentian University on April 8 and 9. Certain students may possibly be selected for the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Regina, Saskatchewan, in May.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
