October 8, 2019

During the night of Wednesday, October 9, some 110 students from École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) will take part in the Homeless for a Night activity, accompanied by three staff members. This year marks the 11th consecutive Homeless for a Night activity for Champlain. This awareness activity will begin at 4 p.m. in the Place Bonaventure Mall located on Highway 144 in Chelmsford. The event will conclude on Thursday, October 10, at 8 a.m.

With only cardboard boxes and tarps for shelters, the students will experience the reality of being homeless. They will also collect non-perishable food items and monetary donations. Community members are encouraged to stop by for a visit and donate to this great cause. All past participants are also invited to stop by in the evening to stand in solidarity and sign a commemorative poster.

The monetary donations will be used to purchase winter clothing for the less fortunate in our community as well as items for the Sudbury Infant Food Bank and the Chelmsford Food Bank, which will also accept the food donations.
