On June 13, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon had the great pleasure of awarding the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE) Frank Kelly Scholarship to École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur (Sudbury) grade 12 student Tyberius Newel. The Frank Kelly Scholarship, that includes a cash award of $2,500, was awarded for the first time this year to one student in each of Ontario’s four school systems.
Tyberius Newel was selected on the basis of his perseverance throughout his secondary school journey despite the numerous challenges that he had to face and overcome. Thanks to his determination, Tyberius had much success, engendering within him the desire to help others. That desire motivated him to enrol in the social work program at Cambrian College.
“I take great pride in learning that a Nouvelon graduating student will benefit from this prestigious award that hallmarks a student’s tenacity and capability in tackling challenges,” stated Ms. Lyse-Anne Papineau, Director of Education at the CSC Nouvelon. “Student success and progress are the mainstay of all that we who work in the field of education seek to accomplish. I am happy to learn that Tyberius succeeded in overcoming the many obstacles in his path and will now be moving on to post-secondary studies.”
The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon offers a French-language Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSC Nouvelon provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
