The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon (Nouvel-Ontario) celebrated the launch of its new logo and visual identity on May 1, 2019. After celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2017-2018, the CSC Nouvelon decided at that moment that the time was right to develop a new logo that would reflect its evolution as well as its important contributions to students, staff and school communities.
“The new logo’s modern simplicity reflects our engagement to always put students at the centre of our work and offer them the direction they need to look to the future with confidence. This logo reminds us of our mandate, which is to offer our school communities a stable anchorage and foundation and to support our students as they move towards a promising future,” stated Ms. Lyse-Anne Papineau, CSC Nouvelon Director of Education. “While providing its students with a contemporary learning environment, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon also is a centre of stability for its educational community and remains an important point of reference that reflects its desire to support each student in the pursuit of their adventure.”
“For over 20 years, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon has stood out through the excellent academic results of its students and its graduation rate—amongst the highest in the province. Our new logo reflects our mandate to propel our students towards their highest aspirations. Our quality French-language education paired with the teachings of the Catholic faith, comprise the compass that guides each of our students along this path,” declared the CSC Nouvelon President, Mr. André Bidal.
The popularity of the Nouvelon abbreviation among the board’s families and staff prompted the decision to modernize its name and leverage this strong sense of community and belonging. The new logo includes a compass, a cross, and a person. Taken together, these elements represent the school board and how, through the commitment of its staff, students are guided within their Catholic faith and along their educational journey while being propelled towards a promising future. While the Nouvelon name has been in use in official communications since May 1, 2019 the legal name of the board remains Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario.
Yellow, symbolizing light and the sun, reminds us of the importance of the board in the lives of its students. Violet, a liturgical colour, evokes the faith that binds us together. Blue, the colour of strength and tranquility, alludes to the heavens and the infinite possibilities offered to students. Green—the colour of the original logo—creates a link to the Franco-Ontarian flag to reflect Francophone culture and identity.
The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSC Nouvelon provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
