Some 125 school trustees from the eight French language Catholic school boards in Ontario will meet in Sudbury from May 24 to 26, for the 20th congress of the Association franco-ontarienne des conseils scolaires catholiques (AFOCSC). The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) will host this year’s congress, whose theme is “20 remarkable years–a true feat achieved by working in unison,” at the Sudbury Holiday Inn.

A record number of delegates will be in attendance this year to affirm and celebrate the vitality of Ontario’s French language Catholic school boards on the occasion of their 20th anniversary. The congress also provides opportunities for trustees from across the province to dialogue, participate in workshops, take part in a special Eucharistic celebration and attend the annual general meeting.

“Over and above the workshops and dialogue opportunities, the congress enables us to celebrate together our many successes,” stated CSCNO president Mr. André Bidal. “French language Catholic school boards remain the educational choice of 7 out of 10 francophone parents because Catholic schools provide the best French-language education in Ontario. Now that’s something worth celebrating!”

Representatives of the media are welcome to attend the many events that are scheduled during the congress. The full schedule can be found at http://www.afocsc.org/assemblee-generale-annuelle by clicking on Programme XXe congrès.

L’Association franco-ontarienne des conseils scolaires catholiques is the voice of Ontario’s eight French language Catholic school boards that together serve the needs of more than 74,000 Franco-Ontarian students.
