École St-Étienne (Dowling) will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this Saturday, May 5. Over 180 former students, families and staff members will gather at the Dowling Leisure Centre (70 Main St. West) at 5 p.m. for the homecoming evening. Guests are also invited to tour the school (located at 70 Houle Ave.) at 4 p.m. before making their way to the Leisure Centre. Members of the media are invited to attend these events highlighting an important moment in the history of the school and the community of Dowling.
École St-Étienne has been providing quality French language Catholic education to the children of the community for 50 years now. The school is proud to serve the families of Dowling, Levack, Onaping Falls and Cartier.
“École St-Étienne is an integral part of the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario and greatly contributes to the families of the Dowling area,” explained Ms. Lyse-Anne Papineau, Director of Education for the CSCNO. “Despite its modest size, this school has truly made its mark through excellence in education, community involvement and charitable work throughout the years.”
The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
