From May 1 to 3, some 500 young athletes from 38 boys’ and girls’ teams will gather in Greater Sudbury to take part in the 40th Franco Basketball Tournament. Organized by the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) with the support of the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario, this tournament will bring together grade 7 and 8 students from several Ontario Francophone Catholic and public school boards to allow them to compete in a friendly basketball tournament, while also building friendships with Franco-Ontarian students from all over the province.

Games will be played in the gymnasiums of Laurentian University, Collège Boréal, Collège Notre-Dame and École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier. Everyone is invited to attend the games. The tournament schedule can be viewed at: https://francobasket2018.wixsite.com/sudbury.

Sponsorships from the following local organizations contribute immensely to the success of this tournament: Laurentian University, Positive Inception, Collège Boréal, Desjardins, Sudbury Skin Clinique, Cousin Vinnys’, Power Surge, Club Richelieu, the Knights of Columbus and Les Colombiettes de la Toussaint.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence.
