Professional basketball player and College Notre-Dame graduate Georges Serresse has come back to Sudbury. It didn’t take him long to return to his roots at Collège Notre-dame and give his support to players from all three “Alouettes” boys basketball teams. Thanks to his backing, the Alouettes are planning to make waves on the high school basketball scene this year.
Members from the media are invited to meet Georges Serresse and see the students in action during practice on Tuesday, December 12, from 7 to 8 a.m. or during the alumni game on Tuesday, December 19, at 1 p.m. during which several CND alumni, including Georges Serresse, will take on the current Alouettes senior basketball team.
Georges Serresse graduated from Collège Notre-Dame in 2008. During his last season with the Alouettes, he led the team to a regional championship. After graduation, Georges Serresse pursued his passion for basketball in his home town, playing as a Voyageur at Laurentian University. During his five years as a Voyageur, he ranked as one of the top players in the Ontario University Athletics Association and was well-known for his leadership both on and off the court.
His basketball career continued once his Laurentian University days were over, being recruited by the ABC Trois Rivières Division III national team in France. He subsequently played for the Pays des Olonnes Division II team, also in France. Georges Serresse is currently a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans of the Canadian National Basketball League.
