During the night of Wednesday, October 4, over 120 students from École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) will take part in the Homeless for a Night activity, accompanied by four staff members. This awareness activity will begin at 4 p.m. in the Métro supermarket parking lot located on Errington Street in Chelmsford. The event will conclude on Thursday, October 5, at 9 a.m.
With only cardboard boxes and tarps for shelters, the students will experience the reality of being homeless. They will also collect non-perishable food items and monetary donations. Community members are encouraged to stop by for a visit and donate to this great cause.
The monetary donations will be used to purchase winter clothing for the less fortunate in our community as well as items for the Sudbury Infant Food Bank and the Chelmsford Food Bank, which will also accept the food donations. A monetary donation will also be given to the Sudbury Soup Kitchen, where ÉSC Champlain students volunteer once a month.
