School Boards approve School Year Calendar for 2017-2018

Rainbow District School Board, Sudbury Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) and Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) have approved the School Year Calendar for 2017-2018.

CSCNO students to take part in improv competition

On Monday, February 27, some 30 students from three Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) secondary schools will gather at École secondaire catholique Champlain (61 Brookside Drive, Chelmsford) to take part in the “On IMPROvise” (We IMPROVise) tournament. This dynamic event, held in the ESC Champlain gymnasium, will attract the participation of young improv aficionados from the host school as well as from Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury) and ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River). Members of the media are invited to attend this animated competition, during which students are to celebrate Franco-Ontarian culture through improvisation.

Collège Notre-Dame, ÉSC Champlain, ESC l’Horizon, ES du Sacré-Coeur and ÉSC Thériault to square off in Francophone Reach for the Top competition

On Friday, February 24, 12 teams representing Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury), École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford), École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron), École secondaire du Sacré-Coeur (Sudbury) and École secondaire catholique Thériault (Timmins) will square off in the Tournoi du Gros Cinq Sous (Big Nickel Tournament).  This contest measuring students’ knowledge will take place in the École secondaire catholique Champlain gymnasium (61 Brookside Drive, Chelmsford). Similar to the former Reach for the Top competition, the Tournoi du Gros Cinq Sous is the only French-language competition of this type to take place in Sudbury. Members of the media are invited to view the competition.

CSCNO signs a partnership with four Belgian Catholic educational institutions

On February 20, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario participated in the signing agreement in Spa, Belgium, between the eight Ontario French language Catholic school boards and four Belgian Diocesan educational institutions. This important partnership seeks to develop a set of educational activities and to facilitate the sharing of experience, knowledge, teaching and learning methods, and pedagogical materials.
