Funding granted for the new daycare at École St-Charles Borromée

January 26, 2018

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario’s École élémentaire St-Charles Borromée (St-Charles) will have a new daycare operational starting in spring 2018 thanks to capital funding from the Ministry of Education.

The capital investment project at École St-Charles Borromée received the sum of $299,981, allowing the school to welcome 15 children aged 0 to 12 in this daycare, which is managed and operated by Carrefour francophone under a Family Age Group childcare permit. The Ministry of Education designed this type of permit to provide improved services to smaller communities. Work to transform the existing space at the school began on January 16, 2018 and will be completed by March 2018. Additional improvements to the daycare entrance and playground will take place this summer.

“This service is being added in response to requests from parents in the St-Charles area who wish to benefit from francophone childcare services. Our parents have been waiting for this additional service, which will facilitate the child’s transition from home to school,” explained CSCNO President André Bidal.

“The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario recognizes the importance of offering early childhood services to families in St-Charles, thus contributing to helping children of this community to develop and thrive even before they enter kindergarten,” added Mrs. Lyse-Anne Papineau, Director of Education at the CSCNO.

With 24 daycares operating in its schools, the CSCNO is a strong partner to the early childhood sector. As well, parents also reap the benefits of a before-and-after school program that is available at most of its schools.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
